the principle that stood out most to me today in class was that of really listening 100% when someone else is talking. when brother adams made us reiterate what was said by the previous person before we could make a comment it engraved in me the importance of understanding. i felt that before i could speak i needed to know 100% what was said before i base my comments and opinions off of things that were not really said. in addition, it reminded me that we need to listen empathically always and not enter into selective listening.
in teaching these princples it reminds me again how important it is to not enter into selective listening. james and i want to work hard to thoroughly listen to one another before cutting the other off based on listening selectively.
